Police in India have proven that rats are tiny rodents that have no fear of authority.

This is after they blamed the rats for eating 200 KGS of bhang that had been seized from suspects and had been stored as evidence.

Judge Sanjay Chaudhary said in an order that when the court asked the police to produce the seized drug as evidence, it was told that 195kg of cannabis had been “destroyed” by rats.

In another case, some kilograms of the 368kgs stored as evidence was also apparently destroyed by the rats.

The judge told the court that over 700kgs of Marijuana which is laying in police stations is in danger of being destroyed by the tiny rodents. The police have no way of dealing with the rats since they are 'too small'.

The only way to protect the seized goods from “such fearless mice”, he added, was to auction the drugs to research labs and medicine firms, with the proceeds going to the government.
