A Kenyan man has narrated how tough situations forced him to announce he was selling one of his kidneys.

Phelix Makhanda told Citizen Digital that he had reached his end and he needed money to take his brother to school and also to help his mother.

The desperate situation caused him to take a pen and a placard and he went to the streets in an attempt to sell the kidney and make ends meet.

"I am selling my kidney to take my brother to school." Read the placard.

This attracted attention and a possible buyer contacted him asking for a meetup. The buyer was willing to pay Ksh 10 Million for the kidney.

"With the Ksh10 million, I would have constructed a home for my mum, educated my siblings and started a flourishing business.

The agent visited him at his home and convinced him to travel with them to the buyer.

While on the road, a tyre burst, and the agents fled as they assumed police officers were shooting at them. Makhanda was left clueless and stranded in the vehicle.

He was rescued by another motorist who gave him a place to stay for the night and an additional Ksh5,000 to travel back home. He decided to rebuild his life without selling his body parts.

Makhanda currently owns an electronics shop and a charcoal supply business.

He is grateful that the motorist rescued him on that day, otherwise he wouldn't be alive to share his story.
