Comedian Njugush was forced to delete a video on social media after facing backlash for his collaboration with Equity Bank.

The comedian posted a video encouraging parents to use the bank to pay for back-to-school shopping and school fees.

In the video he was seen dressed in school uniform as he highlighted the convenience of paying school fees through Equity Bank. He also praised the bank for providing a stress-free experience.

The video was not received well by his fans or a number of Kenyans, especially on Twitter, who claimed the collaboration was meant to sanitise the bank’s image following the growing number of fraud cases associated with the bank.

The father of two deleted the video and his attempts to replace it with a comedy post bore no fruits as Kenyans on Twitter didn't give him a chance.

Speaking after, the comedian said said the campaign was ongoing and Nothing as sanitising was going on, the ad was a scheduled post.

He added that the timing was bad and apologized for everyone who was offended.
