Langata Member of Parliament, Jalango came to the rescue of Maria Actor Khula Budi who had been detained and at Karen Police Station.
Khula Budi was arrested following an altercation with a Nigerian national at his home. Budi claimed the man assaulted him, his daughter and his wife.
In a post on social media, the actor accuses the Nigerian man of bribing the police to hold him at the station without bail.
"I am currently being held at the Karen Police Station since yesterday without bail. A Nigerian national came to my house, attacked and assaulted me. He was abusive to my wife and daughter. He has paid the OCS at Karen Police Station to hold me here illegally without bail."
According to the P3 form he shared, he sustained injuries on his head, neck, abdomen and lower and upper abdomen and categorised the degree of the injuries as ‘harm’.
The actor had asked his followers to share the post widely and it caught the attention of Jalango who intervened and helped in his release.
"Thank you to everybody, my family and friends, all my amazing followers who shared the post and made calls to check up on me, I have finally been released. Thanks to my Member of Parliament, Jalango, for following up and standing with me."
Khula was the Mr World Kenya 2018 and emerged second in Africa after losing to South Africa’s Fezile Mkhize, the 2019 Mr World Africa. He is popularly known as Trevor from citizen TV show 'Maria'.
