Popular Kikuyu Mugithi singer Lawrence Njuguna well known as DJ Fatxo is the winner of Mugithi Artist of the year e360 awards.

In February, the singer was nominated for the award and he had asked his fans to vote for him.

The E360 awards are meant to recognise Kenyan artists from all walks of life and promote Kenyan content.

"The recent debate on social media has been widely focused of promoting Kenyan content which largely targets on Kenyan Music Industry. Many artistes have complained of not getting a platform to showcase their talent. This has prompted E360 EntertainmentT to come up with E360 Awards to acknowledge, promote, establish, discover and award artistes from all spheres."

Other winners include Meshack Mwengei who was the most voted male artist, Phelix Owiny (Male Model of the Year), Joseph Sonko Jnr (Differently Abled of the Year), Fred Muyanga (Gospel Artist of the Year) and Sarafina Salim (Female Mugithi Artist of the Year).

DJ Fatxo's win comes at a time when he is in a controversy following the death of 23 year old interior designer, Jeff Mwathi who died after falling from the 10th floor of the DJ's apartment.

Jeff Mwathi died after spending the day and night with the DJ. A voice message he had sent to his mother revealed that he was meeting up with Fatxo for business.

They later went from club to club before returning to Fatxo's apartment at around 3am.

DJ Fatxo and two other witnesses claimed that Mwathi jumped from the 10th floor to the hard concrete ground.

The DCI took over the investigations and established that Jeff did not take his own life. On March 26, 2023, the National Police Service (NPS) confirmed that plans are underway to exhume the body of Jeff Mwathi for further investigations.
