Ugandan socialite Zari Hassan has dismissed claims that her husband Shakib used to work for her late husband Ivan Ssemwanga.

Rumors have been circulating on social media that Shakib Lutaaya used to work for the couple as a gatekeeper and his relationship with Zari started before Ivan's death.

Speaking on social media, Zari denied any claims of Shakib working for her or her late husband.

"We need to address this. I've seen people saying that Shakib used to be our gateman. That he used to work for Ivan. To set the record straight, Shakib has never worked for Ivan. Shakib was never our gateman while I was with Ivan. Shakib never worked for Ivan or me or any of our companies."

Zari admitted that she dated Shakib in the past and they went separate ways, they then met again and rekindled their love.

"I dated Shakib way back and then we went separate ways. I don't know how we found each other again. And then coming back together one year later and it's like 'you know what? I am gonna make you my wife. That's it. We didn't talk for a while then all over a sudden we come back together a year after getting back together and we get married. If it's not God, I mean what do you call that."

In April, Zari and Shakib tied the knot in a traditional islamic wedding known as a Nikkah ceremony.

The wedding was a surprise to many and it is said it took place in South Africa with only a handful of people invited for the nuptials.

In an interview, Zari disclosed that Shakib is her first official husband. She added that her relationships with Tanzanian superstar Diamond Platnumz and Ivan Ssemwanga may have produced children,  none of them resulted in official marriages.

She said Ssemwanga held an introduction ceremony at her parents’ home, but never took the final step towards tying the knot
