Kenyans have come to the aid of musician Colonel Mustafa after a video of him working in a construction site to earn a living went viral.
Kenyans on social media started a fundraiser to help the musician who revealed that he is struggling financially and his mother is battling cancer.
A social media user identified as Fauz Khalid mobilized people to contribute by sharing Mustafa's number on social media and he has been giving an update of how much has been received.
Today, he revealed that so far Ksh 600k is in Mustafa's account and he thanked all those who have contributed, for the generous act. He asked those who are trying to send cash with no luck to try after midnight since Mustafa has surpassed his daily limit.
After his viral video rocked the internet, renowned Kenyan rapper Colonel Mustafa said after his mother contracted Cancer, he had to find ways to support her medication and general treatment hence manual labor came in handy.
In an interview with Eve Mungai, Mustapha mentioned that he needs a job or capital to start a business so that he can put food on the table and pay a few bills.
He went ahead to reveal that he had done ‘Mjengo’ jobs for close to a year and he used to keep it a secret due to his status in the society.
He admitted that his music career has not been doing well and whenever he releases a song it flops adding that he never earns from his previous hit songs.
His story touched the hearts of many Kenyans who went out of their way to help him. He gave his number his registered under his name for those willing to help.
