Media personality and bold Network Africa Founder Makena Njeri is elated after meta helped change their Instagram user name officially to Chris Muriithi.

Makena shared the news with their fans on social media revealing it has been quite a process but Meta was super supportive.

Chris Muriithi thanked everyone who has been so intentional in identifying them with the official name saying it means so much.

Last year, Makena changed the name on their bio but it was not official until yesterday.

Makena Njeri came out as gay in 2021 and uses the pronouns They/ Them as a non-binary person. 

During The Tedx talk, Makena said it was always a struggle growing up and living to their truth. They added that it was hard living up to societal expectations forced on them at a young age.

“I remember for the first time in my life after very many years looking at myself in the mirror and I said to myself, I am gay, I am unique and this is my truth.”

The journalist admitted that it was a great relief after finding the courage to talk about the sexuality issue.

"My name is Chris Njeri Makena, I am happy, free and confident. For a very long time, I could not identify myself like this but somewhere along the journey I began to discover the meaning of living your truth. I began to discover who I am and I decided to be true to my reality
