The much anticipated Shoke Shoke festival has been officially cancelled according to information provided by the event organizers.

The organizers said that while they would have loved to create another unforgettable experience for their fans, their commitment was impeded by “logistical and operational challenges.”

The concert was set to go down at Uhuru Gardens on September 9, 2023, featuring Nigerian superstar Ruger as the main act, alongside Kenyan musicians Wakadinali and Kahush.

"To our esteemed Shoke Shoke Community, It is with a heavy heart that we announce the cancellation of Shoke Shoke Festival scheduled for September 9th at the Uhuru Gardens due to unmet financial obligations. We understand the disappointment this may bring, and we genuinely apologize for the inconvenience caused."

The organizers said that they were cognizant of the fact that a large portion of fans had already bought tickets and would naturally expect an immediate refund . However, Due to the unforseen circumstances, fans have now been told that they may have to wait for at least 45 to 60 days to get a refund.

The Shoke Shoke festival was a major event that was expected to attract thousands of people from all over Kenya. The cancellation is a major disappointment for fans who had been looking forward to the event.

This is the second time that the organisers have cancelled the event, following the same move taken in July 2023.

At the time, the cancellation was attribution to the anti-government demonstrations.
