The move, it said, marks a significant milestone in its commitment to providing an enriched entertainment experience to users across diverse regions.
The ad-free plan at a monthly fee of Ksh500 for individuals and Ksh949 for a family scheme will allow subscribers to access uninterrupted viewing, play videos in the background and download videos for offline viewing.
For those opting for YouTube Music alone, the monthly fee is KES 419 for individuals and KES 669 for a family bundle.
YouTube Premium subscribers will also automatically receive YouTube Music and can listen to songs offline without advertisement.
Subscribers will also experience other exclusive features such as the ‘Smart Search’ to help them discover songs even with partial lyrics, an ‘Activity Bar’ for quick navigation to playlists and personalised mixes and an ‘Explore Tab’ for new and popular music.
According to Google, this expansion builds upon YouTube’s commitment to innovation and the exportation of culture, promising a more engaging and personalized experience for music and video enthusiasts in Kenya.
