Popular Nairobi club 1824 has shut down its location along Lang'ata Road.
A source at the entertainment joint confirmed that the establishment was closed down owing to a dispute between the landlord and the owner.
However, the nature of the disagreement between the owner and the landlord was not revealed. The reason behind the closure remains unclear to the public.
Social media has been abuzz with videos and photos of the club being shut down, leaving many confused about the sudden move.
Earlier in the day, there was a heavy police presence at the establishment as workers removed chairs and tables.
Other sources at the club also indicated that the establishment would be reopened at another location in due course.
However, timelines for the reopening are yet to be known.
The club recently fell under the scrutiny of both the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commissions (EACC).
The owner, identified as a junior staff member of the Nairobi County government, found himself under investigation regarding his accumulation of illicit, unexplained wealth.
The orders involved freezing a staggering sum of Sh48 million held by Wilson Nashon Kanani, an employee of the County Government of Nairobi.
In November 2022, police raided the entertainment joint in a crackdown on clubs located in residential areas within Nairobi.
The club had been accused by the county government of playing loud music past 10 pm.
