Canadian singer Celine Dion has lost control of her muscles following battle with a rare neurological disorder known as stiff person syndrome.
The news were confirmed by her sister Claudette Dion who expressed her concern over her sister's loss of muscle control, highlighting Celine's disciplined and hardworking nature throughout her career.
Claudette underscored the dual impact of SPS on the vocal cords and the heart, emphasizing the limited research due to the condition's rarity, leaving some with dwindling hope.
While the prospect of Celine's return to the stage remains uncertain, her sister shared their collective aspiration for her comeback.
Claudette also shed light on the symptoms that come with Stiff-Person Syndrome, explaining, “You know how people often jump up in the night because of a cramp in the leg or the calf? It’s a bit like that, but in all muscles. There’s little we can do to support her, to alleviate her pain.”
In December 2022, Celine revealed she had been diagnosed with the rare neurological disorder.
She detailed some of the challenges that come with the disorder, noting that the spasms affect every aspect of her daily life, by causing difficulties while walking and not allowing her to use her vocal cords to sing the way she’s used to.
