Former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has once again extended his support to former boxing champion Conjestina Achieng' by enrolling her in rehabilitation for the third time.
Sonko expressed his disappointment in a statement following Achieng's admission to the Mombasa Women's Rehabilitation Centre, stating that his previous efforts to assist the boxer had been watered down.
“Even though our chances in Conjestina’s healing journey were watered down, I’m a person who doesn’t give up in life. It is for this reason that we have given Conjestina the third and last chance again on her case. I just want to let the public know that she was readmitted at the Mombasa Women Rehabilitation Centre where she will start her treatment afresh under the care of a group of specialists, including councillors, consultants and physiatrists,” Sonko stated.
Days ago, Media personality Carol Radull revealed that the former female boxing champion was back to her old state.
Radull shared insights from her visit, expressing concern for Achieng’s ongoing challenges.
In 2022, Mike Sonko secured Conjestina Achieng an admission at the Mombasa Women Empowerment Network Hospital in Miritini where she stayed until she was fully recovered.
The move by Mike Sonko came shortly after Conjestina's son Charltone requested him to come through for his mother who has been battling mental illness for a while.
In June 2023, she was discharged after successfully completing her rehabilitation program.
At the time, the boxing champion appeared to be on the right track to recovery.
