They shared that they will not give their child a cultural name. Explaining their decisions, they said that most cultural names carry spirits from the people the name came from.

" You will find that someone is named after a person who died 100 years ago. You might find out that the person was a thief or a witch. When the baby inherits that name, the bad spirit is kept alive and every time the name is mentioned, the bad spirit manifests."

The couple shared that at some point, their own cultural names have brought them problems and they want to break the generation curse.

MaryLinda and Rapho shared that their child will have Christian names and incase they give the child an African name as their last name, the child will not be referred to by that name.

"Spirits are very strong, we cannot name our child after a parent, grandmother, grandfather, uncle, aunts, or even cousins. Each of us have a name that has brought us problems in life. Our child will not have a Kikuyu or a Luo name. The best way to name a child is to give them the names that are in the Bible, just to be safe."

They shared that they have received backlash from people who claim they are not respecting the continuity of generations but they are just protecting their child.

The couple announced pregnancy in April. Marylinda poured out her emotions, expressing sheer joy and gratitude for the impending arrival of their baby.
