A Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) Candidate from Tharakanithi county gave birth this morning before starting mathematics paper.

The candidate welcomed her baby on Monday morning at the Marimanti Hospital.

The young mother is among 2,147 candidates sitting for KCPE in Tharaka North sub-county.

Area Education Director Salecio Maringe says the candidate will continue to write her exam from the hospital.

The National exams started today Monday 28th November 2022 where over 2.5 million candidates will sit the KCPE and KPSEA exams countrywide.

Grade 6 pupils will be assessed in the inaugural Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) introduced after the inception of the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC).

KCSE candidates are also sitting their national exams which kicked off with Home science.
