Kenyatta National Hospital has claimed that Baby Travis Maina who died after a fork Jembe Lodged in His Skull was victim of domestic violence.
According to the hospital, the extent of the injury was too much and couldn't have been caused by a child like his mother claimed.
"It is an issue that requires to be investigated by another body. When we informed the woman about the death of her son, she stated about how her baby had been killed by her husband," KNH CEO Evanson Kamuri told Senate Health Committee.
KNH CEO said that the mother needs to come clean about what happened. The deceased's mother Judy Muthoni had told the committee that her six year old son hit baby Travis with a fork Jembe while they were playing.
"The mother needs to come clean about what happened. We are very sorry for what happened but we have also been asking ourselves questions. The injury was severe and it could not have been inflicted by other children while playing."
The incident that took place a few months ago saw many pointing fingers at KNH claiming that the hospital took too long to attend to the injured boy.
In response, the hospital said they had to give the toddler blood before taking him to the theatre and since he was too young, the process had to be slow.
The committee is now investigating what really transpired before making a final decision.
