Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja has ordered the release of patients detained in hospitals in the county over unpaid medical bills .
The governor has paid the pending medical bills to allow the patients to go home and celebrate Christmas with their families.
Sakaja made the announcement while addressing the media at the ceremony of lighting the Nairobi County Christmas tree at City Hall on Sunday, December 18.
The governor added that he had already liaised with the individuals in charge of the county hospitals to ensure that he received the patients' details to clear their bills on time.
The governor urged Nairobi residents to be compassionate and share with the less fortunate even during the holiday season.

Governor Sakaja also donated Ksh 1M in addition to the donations made by Nairobi County Government Staff and several donors and partners. The amount collected will go towards putting a smile on the less fortunate during this festive season.
