Former Gatanga CCM Deputy Principal Elizabeth Gatimu is in police custody after she was arrested and charged with murder in the case of Ebbie Noel Samuel a form one student who died in 2019 at Gatanga CCM secondary school.

According to information shared by media personality Lynn Ngugi, the former deputy principal was arraigned in Kiambu law courts today. The judge granted the DCI detectives request to detain her for seven more days inorder to undergo a mental assessment at Mathare mental hospital.

After the seven-day period, she will be arraigned before a high court judge to take a plea.

Ebbie Noel's mother Wanjiro Wangai said although she will never get her daughter back, she is confident in the justice system.


The story of Ebbie Noel's death was shared by Lynn Ngugi in 2022 and Kenyans from all walks of life  agreed to join Ebbie's mother, for a walk to president's Uhuru Kenyatta's offices to demand justice For Ebbie.

The young girl died in 2019 at Gatanga CCM secondary school. The school administration had provided a statement that Ebbie died after falling off from her bed at night, but after thorough investigation, the DCI report said the death wasn't caused by an accident.

The detectives sought to record statements from witnesses who include Ebbie's friends and classmates. From the investigation, they established that on a fateful night, Ebbie had been assaulted severely by a senior member of the school’s administration on allegations that her hair had been styled contrary to school regulations.

On the fateful night, she went to bed but never woke up the following morning. Autopsy report revealed she died as a result of blunt force trauma.

The DCI also investigated the conspiracy by the school administration which led to contradictory statements.
