Education CS Ezekiel Machogu has banned early morning and late evening classes for learners.
The CS said students will not report to class before break of dawn and school activities should end before dusk to allow them time to rest.
" As we resume the normal education calendar, it is clearly stipulated in the curriculum that learning begins at 8am and ends at 3.45 pm. We are subjecting learners to unnecessary struggles by waking them at 4am to attend lessons by 6am."
Machogu said the government will not allow the forcing students to report before the break of dawn or leaving school late in the evening.
“You will meet students walking in the streets before dawn so that they can make time for remedial classes. We will not allow that, and we will also take action on schools that ferry students home as late as 10.00 pm."
Machogu added that children should have enough rest and enough sleep and that way they will enjoy their schooling life.
" Let's not subject our children to alot of stress which affects their mental health. We want to make learning fun and likeable."
