Today, family and friends of the late Fridah Warau Kamuyu held a burial for her at her home in Mathioya, Murang'a county.


The family mourned Fridah as an obedient girl who was loved by her family and brought up in a Christian background.

Fridah Kamuyu was born in 2000. She started her schooling at Kagwanja Primary School in the Year 2005, where she studied and got her KCPE certificate in the Year 2014. She proceeded to Butere Girls’ High School [in Kakamega County] and did her KCSE in the year 2019. She [thereafter] enrolled at Uzuri institute in Thika for a Diploma in Hotel Catering and Management course. Kamuyu graduated from Uzuri Institute in November 2022.


The eulogy stated that In 2006, she was baptized at ACK st Paul Kagwana church.

Her parents, Chris Kamuyu and Grace Ruguru, in their eulogy, described Kamuyu as a happy woman, who brought so much joy to the people she interacted with she was a bubbly happy person who died too soon.

"Dear daughter, your love overwhelmed us with great joy in our hearts. We still recall your great laughter and stories. Your presence filled us with joy and happiness. We loved you so much, but you left us so soon. Rest easy, Fridah."


Her siblings are Mary Wanjiru, Anne Nyambura, Bildad Wachira and Monicah Wangui.


Fridah Kamuyu drowned together with Kiambu businessman Tirus Maina 39 in Juja Dam. Witnesses say they were merry making inside the car when it slowly started reversing and plunged into the dam.

Tirus Maina was immediately identified after photos of the car were shared online.

The body of Fridah Warau Kamuyu was retrieved from Juja Dam on January 18th. Her parents were however unaware she had passed on till January 26th when they identified her at city mortuary.

Sources revealed that Fridah and Tirus Maina were in a four months relationship before they met their death.
