The police are investigating a random ransom message sent after Ciku Muiruri's Daughter's abduction.

According to detectives, the message was sent to the missing woman’s maternal uncle. The message came from Erica Njeri's phone.

"Please I was kidnapped last 9te (night) by some Somali and I am almost headed to Somalia if 250k is not sent by COB tomorrow. Please help,” read part of the message.

Njeri and her friend Shanice Agose are said to have been abducted in Nairobi on Sunday but apart from the message, there has been no communication from the alleged abductors.

Multi-agency teams are now investigating the incident. The teams have talked to various parties they believe can help in the probe. Investigations involve analysis of the texts with a view to establishing the phone’s location when the message was sent among other things.

In a Facebook post Ciku revealed the abduction adding that Erica and her friend were Shanice Agose were kidnapped by a taxi driver on Sunday around 2am.

"In the early hours of Sunday morning (2am), my daughter and a friend of hers were abducted by a taxi driver. We know that prayers can move mountains. Stop wars. Please pray for my daughter Erica Njeri and her friend Shanice Agose as part of your intentions. Also, and this is very important, pray for those who have taken them, that their souls may not be lost."

Erica, 26, is a University of Nottingham alumni and the founder of the Le Ngai Foundation.
