Kenyan Artist Michael Mugo Of 'Just Imagine Africa' Popularly Known For His Song "Bangi" Has Passed Away.
Mugo who was the lead vocalist, songwriter and rhythm guitarist of Kenyan music band 'Just Imagine Africa', was well known for his controversial party anthem Bangi , which he openly talked about his use for marijuana.
Other members are: Brian Joseph, Daniel Mbithi, Wambui Ng’ang’a, Arlon Mwangi, Joel Djowa, Dominic Juma and Marlon Aduvaga.
According to the musician, marijuana helped him cope with day to day problems , a message that resonated with most users garnering the music video to the song over 800K + views on YouTube.
The ‘Bangi’ song was the first song ever to be put out in the mainstream music scene glorifying marijuana.
Other songs by the band include: Nataka, Madem wa Kenya, touch my soul, clean our souls, Mumbi and Like heaven.
The cause of death has been ruled out as suicide.
