Actor Malik Lemmy, famed for his role on drama series Machachari has opened up on life after quoting the popular show.
In a sitdown interview with Lynn Ngugi, the actor also spoke on his life as a kid and in the limelight.
"Life was not easy being a kid and a celeb but God made it easy. My mum has been in my life. She celebrates me whether am down or am winning," said Malik, alias Govi.
Anyway, with the help of her mother he managed to handle the celebrity status but everything changed when he left the show.
"But when I left Machachari, things changed. I was still earning for some months after I quit the show but it got somewhere, the money ended. I started spending my time alone. I was used to waking up early but that life was not there anymore," he said.
Malik disclosed that after leaving the show, his colleagues in the acting industry stopped being his friends.
"Some of the people who were my friends in the industry stopped being there for me. I got angry and I hated acting. The character was really me. Trust me, quitting was a choice but I did not expect the negative consequences. I could not watch Netflix," he stated.
Life started taking a toll on him, forcing him to seek help from his mother and his apostle.
"She would tell me she went through the same. it took one year and it ended. I think it was anxiety, anger and it is hard to explain. I felt like I was running mad. I believe in sharing it will help someone. My Apostle held my hand," said Malik.
Fortunately, opportunities started coming his way saving him from anxiety and depression.
"Doors started opening up. I no longer complain about it as I think that came for me to understand what some people go through. Having a phase in life where you don't understand what is happening is a bigger blessing," he said.
