Nairobi gubernatorial aspirant Johnson Sakaja has admitted that he did not complete his studies at University of Nairobi.

Sakaja who was pursuing a degree in Actuarial science said he dropped out of school due to lack of school fees and as years went by, he was embarrassed to resume his studies. He added that this was the reason he instead chose to pursue a degree from Team University, Uganda starting 2012. He pursued the degree for five years.

The Nairobi senator spoke on an interview with Spice FM today Friday, after the revocation of his degree by the Commission of University Education (CUE) on Thursday.

The commission through its secretary and CEO Prof Mwenda Ntarangwi told IEBC chair Wafula Chebukati that the degree was “ineligible for recognition”.

Sakaja insisted that the move is political and was aimed at preventing Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission from gazetting his name.
