Amou Haji, an Iranian man who was nicknamed the world's dirtiest man has passed away at the age of 94.

Haji, who did not wash for more than half a century and was single, died on Sunday in the village of Dejgah in the southern province of Fars.

Haji refrained from taking shower in the fear of "getting sick", according to IRNA News. It has also been revealed that some "emotional setbacks in his youth" was the reason that made him that made him stern about not taking a bath with water or soap.

He would eat roadkill, smoke a pipe filled with animal excrement, and believed that cleanliness would make him ill.

According to reports provided, a few months ago, villagers had forced him to take a bath for the first time in over 60 years.
