Sirisia MP John Waluke has been released on a Ksh 10Million cash bail by the court of appeal.

The member of Parliament had appealed the 67 years jail term that had been sentenced to him by the high court.

John Waluke was accused of defrauding the National Cereals and Produce Board (NCPB) Ksh.313 million. Together with Grace Wakhungu, the two were to supply 40,000 metric tonnes of maize to NCPB in 2004 but ended up pocketing Ksh.313 million without supplying even a single grain of maize.

The two were shareholders of Erad Supplies & General Contracts Limited (Erad) which had been given the tender to supply the maize.

The member of Parliament wants the Court of Appeal to rule whether the High Court and Magistrates Court had the jurisdiction to sentence him to serve the terms on behalf of the company.(Erad).
