Rally Driver Maxine Wahome is set to be charged with the murder of her boyfriend and fellow rally Driver Asad Khan.

Maxine was to be charged with causing bodily harm but that changed when Asad died while receiving treatment at Avenue Hospital Nairobi.

Asad Khan died on 18th December 2022, after he was allegedly assaulted by his girlfriend Maxine Wahome.

Maxine Wahome was arrested on 12th December for the offence of grievous harm but was later released on a Ksh 100,000 cash bail pending investigation.

In February, Milimani Senior Principal Magistrate Bernard Ochoi  gave The Director of Public Prosecutions and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations 15 days to file a report on whether to charge Maxine in connection with the death of Asad.

State Prosecutor James Gachoka forwarded the case file to the High Court following the conclusion of the investigations.

DPP Noordin Haji, the court heard, has reviewed the case file and expressed satisfaction with the evidence provided to support the murder charge against Ms Wahome.

Mr Ochoi granted the DPP’s request that Ms Wahome be held in Kilimani for a mental evaluation prior to plea taking on Wednesday.
