Rishi Sunak, the new UK prime minister will be the first person of color to lead the UK after winning conservative party contest on Monday.

The 42 year old has both African and Indian roots since his father was born in Homa Bay county Kenya, While his mother was born in Tanzania.

In the 1960s, his parents’ families separately moved to Southampton, United Kingdom, his mother and father later got married.

Rishi Sunak is the next Prime Minister of UK, tasked to steer the economically floundering nation days after his predecessor Liz Truss stepped down, conceding defeat after 45 days in office. At age 42, he is the youngest person to take the office in over 200 years.

The Indians in UK celebrated his win adding that it was like a Barack Obama moment for them.
