Kenyan car dealer Khalif Kairo has Asked Kenyans For Donations After His Wefunder Crowdfunding Campaign Was Halted.
The popular businessman is accused of receiving money from different clients but failing to deliver their vehicles.
In a post on social media, Kairo shared that he was re-arrested after attending a mention at the Milimani Law Courts.
He revealed that he was detained overnight at the Parklands Police Station in connection with a separate matter and is currently awaiting plea-taking at the Milimani Law Courts.
Speaking about his legal troubles, Kairo lamented the toll these issues have taken on his business operations.
Earlier, Kairo had asked the court to release his passport for a seven-day trip to the US for a fundraiser, for his newly launched parent company based in the U.S., aiming to raise Sh258 million in seed funding.
The businessman also disclosed that his crowdfunding campaign on WeFunder, which had surpassed the $100,000 milestone, was abruptly shut down due to the ongoing legal challenges.
Kairo clarified that contributions would not be an investment but a donation to help his business survive.
He also promised to release an audit trail detailing how the funds raised would be utilized once the situation stabilizes.
