Wadagliz have successfully trademarked their popular phrase “Anguka Nayo” along with its logo.
They are now the official owners of the song and its intellectual property, in partnership with the hood music label.
According to a press statement released by the hood music, any unauthorized use, reproduction or commercial exploitation of the trademark without an explicit written contract henceforth will be met with legal action.
Anguka Nayo, a song by Wadagliz is one of the most famous hits of 2024, and gave rise to a viral dance challenge.
The song gained recognition after the artists performed a dance video during the anti-finance bill protests.
The video resonated with many Kenyans who were calling for the revocation of the finance bill, with the phrase “Anguka Nayo” becoming a metaphor for toppling the bill.
TikTok users quickly embraced the challenge, making it one of the most viral trends.
