Kenyan musician and businesswoman Akothee has reacted after musician and politician Charles Njagua Kanyi popularly known as Jaguar claimed he was richer than her.
According to Akothee, men should not compete and compare themselves with women. She also claimed that most musicians who run into politics do so inorder to make money and remain relevant in power.
" ATI nani amesema he is Richer than madam boss? Since when did men start competing and comparing themselves with women. Most celebs/ musicians run into politics to make money and remain in power."
Akothee claimed that some people in politics have no intentions of helping the common mwananchi but to help themselves.
Akothee warned Jaguar against claiming he is rich yet the business flights they board are paid by the government. She added that most politicians don't use their money for charity and the fundraisers they do online is for PR.
" All this charity you people do online is for PR. Always waiting for something trending to hop on so you can hit headlines because the rest of the days you are irrelevant. Why haven't you taken 5 children under your arms and taken them to school. Hiring a chopper for an hour is Ksh 200k. That is school fees for four years. A real philanthropist can be felt both on and off cameras."
The mother of five warned people against using her name to chase clout saying the only person in entertainment who is allowed to use her name is Eric Omondi.
" Anyone with less than 3.5M followers should not mention my name. You are clout chasing, I am not in your league. I do not eye any government seat, I am government myself."
Jaguar divulged in a recent interview that he’s ready to quit music if Akothee and Harmonize are richer than him. He further stated that he’s ready to quit his current CAS job if they’re indeed richer than him.
Jaguar was listed among the top 10 richest artists in East Africa by Forbes in 2023. He came at number 7 with a net worth of $7 million. In Kenya, he was the second richest artist after Akothee whose net worth was said to be $7.6 million. Akothee was number 4 in East Africa.
"If you look at the list I have been in the industry for more than 15 years. But I swear if Akothee and Harmonize are wealthier than me, I can quit music. They pick things they see like Range Rovers. I have done a lot of things, I am not bragging but if they go into details, I can even resign from being a CAS."
