His Excellency President William Samoei Ruto hosted Faith Kipyegon in Statehouse after her return to the country on June 13th 2023.

The president said that the government will be awarding Ksh 5 million to any Kenyan who breaks a world record and since Faith broke two world records in 8 days, the President awarded her Ksh5 million and a house worth Ksh 6million.

The athletics star was treated to a military jet ride as she flew back to the country. Upon landing, she was received by CS sports, Ababu Namwamba and Nairobi governor Johnson Sakaja. They took her to statehouse where she met President Ruto together with his deputy Rigathi Gachagua.

The president then awarded her Ksh 5 million and a house worth Ksh 6 million. He promised 5 million Kenyan shillings for any Kenyan who participates in a world event and breaks a world record.

"Any Kenyan who participates in a world event and breaks the world record, unlike in the past when there was no recognition, going forward, for every record broken by a Kenyan, the government will be awarding Ksh 5 million and we are going to start with faith", The president said.

Faith broke two world records in eight days; She clocked 14 minutes, 5.20 seconds for the 5000 m race and 3:49:11 for the 1500 m race. She is a true Kenyan hero.
