Genge Music has been added in New Grammy Category for 2024 Grammy Awards.

The Recording Academy has made the addition for the 66th annual Grammy Awards which will be held in February next year.

Grammy Awards 2024 will have three new categories - best alternative jazz album, best African music performance, and best pop dance recording.

The new category, Best African music performance includes: Afrobeat, bongo flava, Genge, afro-fusion, Afro pop, alte, amapiano, Afro-house, Fuji, Highlife Ghanaian drill among others.



The 2024 awards will feature a mammoth 102 categories.

 The 2023 ceremony had a whopping 91 categories, not including eight special awards categories - the Grammy Global Impact Award, Lifetime Achievement Award, Trustees Award, Technical Grammy Award, Grammy Legend Award, Grammy Hall of Fame Award, The MusiCares Person of the Year Award, and Best Song for Social Change,

In a statement, Harvey Mason jr., CEO of the Recording Academy said: 'The Recording Academy is proud to announce these latest Category changes.
