Uasin Gishu graduate Mercy Tarus has issued conditions to senator Ledama Ole Kina before she can Accept a job at his office.
Yesterday, Narok senator Ledama Ole Kina offered a job to Mercy Tarus, after she stood up to Uasin Gishu Governor Jonathan Bii and Senator Jackson Mandago over the botched student airlift program.
Ole Kina said he was inspired by Tarus and would like to engage her in meaningful employment.
"Mercy Tarus, I would like you to work for me… speak your heart …the future belongs to candid youth! Let’s talk," Senator Ledama said.
In response, Mercy asked senator Ledama Ole Kina to talk to his fellow leaders to bring Uasin Gishu leaders to books and refund the money to Kenyan citizens.
"Mr. Ledama, before we can further this conversation, Talk to your fellow senators to bring the Uasin Gishu County Government to book and compel them to refund rightfully hard-earned money to the Citizens of Kenya. Maybe then, we can talk. Otherwise, I have nothing more to say."
Mercy Tarus, a Kabarak University graduate, attracted nationwide attention after confronting Uasin Gishu Governor Jonathan Bii, his deputy John Barorot, and Senator Jackson Mandago over the Uasin Gishu education airlift programme.
In the scholarship program, a total of over Ksh800 million was collected from parents within the Financial Year 2021/22 to support the advancement of their tertiary education in Finland and Canada.
Under an agreement with the Uasin Gishu County Government, successful candidates were assured of future employment opportunities upon completing their education abroad.
Parents of the beneficiaries were instructed to submit the required fees through a designated county government account.
