Nigerian Chef Hilda Baci who recently achieved a new Guinness World Records (GWR) for the longest cook-a-thon, has been dethroned, barely five months after. by Alan Fisher, an Irish restaurant owner.

The 26-year-old Nigerian chef began her cooking marathon on Thursday, 11 May and continued till Monday, 15 May, cooking over 100 pots of food during her four-day kitchen stint.

Hilda attempted to set a record of 100 hours, however, almost seven hours were deducted from her final total because she mistakenly took extra minutes for one of her rest breaks early on in the attempt.

Fisher began his non-stop cooking marathon on Thursday, September 29 at 4p.m., making traditional Irish dishes such as bacon and cabbage, Irish stew, and chowder, finishing triumphantly 120 hours later on Monday.

Alan Fisher broke the longest cooking marathon record by cooking for 119 hours and 57 minutes, surpassing the former record by over 24 hours.

Fisher also claimed the longest baking marathon record, with 47 hours and 21 minutes, overtaking Wendy Sandner’s previous record of 31 hours and 16 minutes.

What’s remarkable is that Fisher accomplished both marathons consecutively, totalling over 160 hours of work with just over a day of rest in between.

Reacting shortly after the announcement, Hilda applauded Mr Fisher, the new record holder, for achieving the feat and described it as “a huge achievement.”
