A 24 year old man and his 80 year old lover are trending on social media after sharing details about their love life.
80 year old Catherine Thomas and 24 year old George from Tanzania have a unique love story according to an interview they did with Afrimax.
Catherine, a mother of 5 lost her husband a while ago and she needed to be loved. As she continued with her day to day activities, she met George who is a school dropout and a boda boda rider.
Their love story however began after Catherine mistakenly left a bag full of 6 million Tanzanian shillings (380, 000 Ksh) as George ferried her home.
To her surprise, he returned the money to her and at that moment he won her heart.
Later approached George and asked him to start dating her. However, George said it took a while to process it but he later agreed since he he was also falling in love with her.
Their relationship has stunned many since they have an age gap of 56 years and Catherine is old enough to be his grandmother.
Despite Georges' view about not caring about what people say, the two have faced opposition from family and society.
The two further explained how Catherine's child could not understand why she would date someone younger than them, as her firstborn is 43 while her last last born is 35.
George’s sister, Mary, said she was heartbroken to learn about the relationship. “I have started accepting it happened. The age gap is too much when someone is 50 years older than you. They are confusing love and madness,” Mary said.
The two are lovestruck and determined to make their relationship work.
