Kenyan Female Barber, Grace Anne Rieko is known for offering pampering services to her clients at her barbershop located in Nairobi CBD.
Apart from shaving their hair, Grace also dances for her clients. She then posts the videos on Tiktok.
In an interview with Trudy Kitui, Grace revealed that her videos attract a lot of clients and men travel from all over to get a haircut from her.
" I have received alot of clients from America, Juba, Ghana south Africa. There's this client who came all the way from Nigeria specifically to get a haircut from me. I was in the house and he insisted I had to be his barber, I was really experiencing a low moment, I was broke with bills to pay and I felt like I hit a jackpot. It all worked out. He came with his wife and they paid me in dollars."
The single mother of one said she faces some challenges too especially from women who are overprotective of their husbands but at the end of the day they realise it's just a business like any other.
In a previous interview, she shared that she once worked in a salon but she now prefers a barbershop because men are easy to work with.
"In the barbershop, I spend like only 20 minutes on someone's head, but in the salon, I used to spend more than an hour on ladies' heads. Sometimes they would make me undo the hair after I was done with making their hair. Working with men is so easy...sometimes a man can come for a simple KSh 500 haircut and end up spending KSh 6000 at the barbershop."
She however shared that Some men may come with ill intentions, but when they get to the shop, they realise that things on the ground are different. some men seduce her, but she has learnt how to handle them and keep her dignity.
