In 2022, he caused a stir online. The Young, Famous and African star, while answering a question on how old he is, responded by saying, “I’m 31st”.
This caused an online stir with a number creating memes and joking about the 31st year old answer.
However, some netizens came to his rescue and said he should not be blamed because English is not his first language while rallying him to speak in Kiswahili.
In 2023 he was also criticized for pronouncing the word 'song' as 'sing'.
"I am going to do another sing ," he said in response to his children who were questioning why he was leaving early.
That was not the first time Diamond has been on the spot for his poor English. In 2018 he became a laughing stock when he was not able to answer a question asked in English by his daughter Latiffa.
A video shared by Diamond captured him with his daughter as they shared a father and daughter moment. The two engaged in a banter in which Tiffa told her father to get rid of his beard and feed it to the birds.
Tiffa asked her father what are the hairs on his chest.
“This one I can pull it like this then the birds eat it. What is this?” Tiffa asked.
“This is the hair, I do not know how to explain it in English my friend, my English is not good,” Diamond responded.
