Comedian Nasra Yusuf has left many amazed after raising over Ksh 600,000 to buy food for people in drought stricken areas.
"Alhamdhulilah I went back to wajir and i delivered some food and water, the reception was beautiful and after along time, every household cooked something yesterday..we still have a long way to go because they still lack so many things and we can only help when we stand together, keep on donating and I will help them on your behalf…may God keep on blessing y’all…0745 328 793."
The comedian noted that people in North Eastern regions such as Wajir are starving due to the ongoing drought and unfortunately the political leaders they chose are not doing enough for them.
" So North Eastern leaders can do a 50 million plus fundraiser to build a mall but cannot feed their people."
Nasra also thanked the people who donated food and beverages to feed the hungry. She had partnered with Ifly air and famous Tik Toker Mummie Francie to spread the word.
"Your donations have fed hungry and thirsty people 😭😭😭😭I can’t control my tears of happiness 🙏🙏🙏🙏thank you for trusting me with your money🙏🙏 @mummiefrancie Asante for using your voice,it really had an impact!🙏🙏🙏."
Nasra had initially shared about the situation in North Eastern Kenya. She had asked her fans for ideas on how to help the people and together they came up with #TeamNasrafordroughtrelief.
"I’m bringing attention to the drought situation in the country and especially wajir, this is one of the IDP camps, people are struggling and I can’t just let it slide, what can we do team Nasra?"
