Kenyan Rhumba artist papa Lando is the creator of a new genre of music that entails the fusion of Kenyan music with Congolese Rhumba.

In an interview with Nairobi Gossip Club, the 37yearold said he grew up listening to Rhumba courtesy of his father who was a big fan of rhumba and benga music.
His music journey started at a very young age and he participated in the school choir. this enabled him to travel across the country and gave him a chance to grow his talent.
His father had a huge collection of music from legendary Congolese artists such as Tabu Ley Rochereau, Tanzanians Simba Wanyika, Mbaraka Mwinshehe and many others.
International artists such as Congolese rhumba stars Koffi Olomide, Ferre Gola and Lokua Kanza inspired him greatly in his music journey, locally he has received inspiration from artists such as Sauti sol, Erick Wainaina and Kidum.
The musician studied music both in his olevels and college. in the past, he has fused Kiswahili with Lingala as evident in his song “Poso Bolingo” (featuring Barcelone) which is available on youtube.
papa Lando is currently working on a new album ''mbogi ya rhumba'' which features two singles ''sitaki kuwa your ex'' and ''pesa ni maua''. The album features renowned genge artist Gabu of Punit.

The musician who is also a guitarist says that he has received a lot of inspiration such as from the legendary Simba Wanyika in the formation of his album which will be released in December 2020. His dream is to incorporate Kenyan and foreign artists.
