Gospel singer Smith Mwatia, alias Rufftone has announced his plans to join politics.
Speaking recently, the musician said he is doing a campus tour across the country before he officially ventures into politics.
Rufftone who has been in the music industry for more than 20 years said he wants to mentor the young generation.
The musician will be vying for the senatorial seat in Nairobi county.
"This is not political but the duty is about the souls. I believe God called me to serve Him in different ways
"The young generation is distorted and misplaced and a parent, it gets to a point you get mad and try to sort the issue rather than pointing fingers," he said.
Rufftone added that people have been made to believe that campus life is all about drugs and bad life.
"As a gospel minister, it is a way of trying to bring sanity to the current generation. Most of these vices are introduced from Primary school, normalised in high school and are perfected in our campuses
"For you to solve the issue, you have to start by going where the problem has been perfected before going to where they introduced it," he said.
Thia comes a week after comedian MC Jessy announced that he would contest for South Imenti parliamentary seat.
The announcement comes days after he received an endorsement from the constituency’s elders on Saturday, November 6.
“This weekend I was grateful and humbled by the elders that raised me and who are from my home constituency of South Imenti when they honored and bestowed on me the blessings and responsibilities to lead South Imenti Constituency as the Member Of Parliament,” he stated
