Kenyans are against the Prosecution of Police Officer Ahmed Rashid who was caught on camera shooting two suspects Jamal Mohammed and Mohamed Dhair Kheri in 2017.

The Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) on November 24, 2022, announced that police officer Corporal Ahmed Rashid would be charged with the murder of the two suspects.

Rashid was the head of the Pangani Six, an infamous police squad accused of extrajudicial killings in Nairobi’s east lands and Southlands areas including Eastleigh, Mathare and Dandora.

In a 2017 viral video, he was recorded shooting dead two young men dead in front of hundreds of witnesses in Eastleigh.

Kenyans are wondering why an officer who is believed to have eradicated serious crime in parts of Nairobi was being prosecuted for protecting residents instead of being hailed as a hero.

Alot of Kenyans are for the  opinion that  Charging him is promoting insecurity and giving gangs unwanted confidence.

Residents of the cited areas say business improved when Rashid became the head. Criminals who were terrorizing them stopped and order was restored. They have hailed him as a hero who fought to reduce criminal gangs in the country.

The corporal is set to take plea on December 8, 2022.
