Police have arrested the mastermind behind the theft of four guns and 100 bullets from Kipasi police post in Homabay.
The manhunt for the suspect was conducted by police based in Homabay county, and a G-3 rifle loaded with 20 rounds of 7.62mm calibre was discovered in the process.
27-year-old Charles Nyumba Ongany, attacked the station two weeks ago. No officer was on duty at the time of the attack. Of the stolen guns were three G3 and one AK-47 rifle with serial numbers G3 S/NO. A3 6699056, G3 S/NO. 6593403, G3 FMP 402994 and AK-47 NO. 4913650.
The detectives raided his father’s compound in Abuje village in Nyando Kisumu county and dug the compound in search of the firearms, after getting wind that the dangerous arms cache had been buried there. Following the early morning raid, the suspect’s father also believed to be part of the dangerous gang managed to escape the police dragnet narrowly.
