Kenyan entertainer Michael Macharia popularly known as DJ Brownskin has been released on a Ksh 100,000 cash bail.

Milimani chief magistrate Lucas Onyina ruled that there was no compelling reasons to continue detaining him. He ordered the release of DJ Brownskin on an alternative bond of Ksh200,000.

"I find the pre-bail report tabled in court favors the accused persons herein by confirming that he is well known and has a fixed abode known by state agencies. This to me confirms the accused is not a flight risk, and I will grant him bond in accordance with the law."

Dj Brownskin, who has been in custody for 14 days, was charged with three charges of aiding suicide, neglect to prevent a felony and destroying evidence by deleting the videos regarding the suicidal incident of his wife Sharon Njeri at their house in July 2022.

DJ Brown Skin, was arrested after a video surfaced showing him recording his wife taking poison last year.

In a heart-wrenching video tape released by a popular blogger, Njeri’s last moments were filmed by the DJ as she emptied a poisonous substance into a cup and ingested it.

Onyina directed that the case be scheduled for a mention on June 22 to review its progress and determine the next steps to be taken.
