Director of criminal investigation has revealed that Anne Adhiambo Akinyi, the suspect in the murder of Nairobi Hospital Finance Director Eric Maigo, is not a minor as earlier alleged.

An age and mental assessment at Nairobi's Mathari Hospital established that the suspect in the murder is an adult of sound mind and is ready to stand trial.

Her parents have also told police she was born in 2003.

On September 27th, Adhiambo appeared in court on a miscellaneous application, and the court gave the prosecution 21 days to keep her pending the conclusion of investigations.

The age and mental assessment is set to be presented before court upon the lapse of the 21 days.

Anne Adhiambo Akinyi was captured on CCTV escaping from the scene of Maigo's murder on the morning of 15th of September at Woodley area of Nairobi.

She was arrested in Kibera slums, Nairobi in an intelligence-led operation by Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) detectives.

Adhiambo stands accused of being behind the gruesome murder of Maigo whose lifeless body was found in his house bearing 25 stab wounds.

A team of police officers from Kilimani sub county visited the scene of crime and established that the deceased was lying in a pool of blood with multiple stab wounds on the chest, face and neck and secured the scene of crime.

Adhiambo who has already recorded a statement with the police is expected back in court on the 28th of October.
