Dickson Ndiema, Man Accused Of Setting The Late Ugandan Olympian Rebecca Cheptegei On Fire, has Died At An Eldoret Hospital.

Reports indicate that he died on Monday, September 9, 2024, while in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) where he was receiving treatment.

His death came just days after Cheptegei, who died on Thursday, September 5, 2024, at the same hospital. She suffered severe burns covering over 75 percent of her body after being attacked by Ndiema, who allegedly set her on fire following a dispute over land on September 3, 2024.

Ndiema allegedly doused Cheptegei with petrol and set her alight at her home in Endebess, Trans-Nzoia County.

Ndiema also suffered burns, with over 30 percent of his body affected, during the incident.

It was suggested that the pair had been arguing over the land that Cheptegei's house is built upon. The 33-year-old purchased the land located close to the Ugandan border and built her home.

Cheptegei's daughters are reported to have witnessed the assault.
