Hilton hotel has officially closed closed its Branch in Nairobi CBD After Operating for 53 years.
The hotel closed its doors on New year's Eve. Last year, the hotel announced that the decision to shut down was influenced by several factors and not limited to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
It had 287 rooms, 45 twins, 185 doubles, seven suites, 22 pool rooms and 27 executive rooms.
Hilton began operations in Nairobi on December 17, 1969, and was officially opened by Kenya’s founding President Mzee Jomo Kenyatta.
It was a landmark in Nairobi and gave tourists unique city views from its high-rise tower rooms and was a popular hangout for wealthy businessmen and tourists.
It's location between Mama Ngina drive and City hall way was convenient for clients.
Hilton plans on retaining its other branches and deploying some staff to other branches in Hurlingham and Hilton Inn Nairobi airport.
Hilton is also set to open a new luxury hotel along the Peponi-Kitisuru Road in Nairobi in February 2023.
