Veteran Nollywood actor Mr Ibu who passed away on March 2, 2024, after battling ill health for some time, was laid to rest on Friday, June 28, 2024, in his hometown.

The funeral rites included a novelty match between Nollywood stars and Rangers International Football Club, which took place on Tuesday, June 25, 2024, followed by a candlelight procession the next day, where the late actor’s colleagues, fans and family members paid their last respect.

on Wednesday, June 26, there was a session called Mr Ibu’s Night, which involved candlelight procession and live entertainment.

On June 27, a Christian Wake-Keep was held at his compound in Eziokwe Amuri, Nkanu West.

The five-day burial ceremony will be wrapped up on Sunday, June 30 with a Church Thanksgiving for family members, friends, and well-wishers.

In October 2023, Mr Ibu had sought financial assistance from the public.

In December 2023, Mr. Ibu's health struggles were made public when his family announced he had undergone an amputation to address blood clotting and other health issues.

Mr. Ibu passed away on Saturday, March 2, 2024, due to cardiac arrest.
